We, women, all have busy lives and a never ending “to-do” list,
most of you might be a lot like me,
I never think about how I’ve treated my skin until the end of the day when it’s time to turn in for the night.
We cannot exactly stop the aging process but I don’t mind slowing it down…
at the end of my twenties, I started paying attention to my skin and it’s appearance.
So I started taking an interest in developing a skin care routine, the problem?
Everything looked soooooo overwhleming!
Where does one start?
HERE. I have five easy ideas to get you on the road to better looking skin.
It’s easier than one might imagine! I’m sharing five simple skin rituals, that I, personally, HATE to miss.
Why? Because when I skimp out on one, I notice a huge difference in the overall appearance and with sometimes it’s almost INSTANTLY.
Hydrate your skin from the inside out. Everyone will not agree that water consumption will improve skin… but it certainly can’t hurt! I try to drink at least 8 cups of water. I’ve noticed that when I don’t, the lines on my face are more prominent and I look and feel tired.
I have to admit, this is tough one for me. I have four babies, it’s the best time for me to get this blogging stuff done, HOWEVER, this is when your body is repairing itself. Not getting adequate sleep interrupts that process and releases stress hormones, that breaks down collagen in the skin. So get the sleep you need, your body will thank you in the long run!
If you don’t need a flashlight to see outside, you need sunscreen on your face. Applying it slows down the aging process, prevents brown spots and skin discolorations, and blotchiness. I wasn’t always faithful to do this in my twenties and as soon as my first sun spot showed up, the sunscreen was always on! It’s the most highly recommended skin treatment – no excuses.
- Wash Your Face Every Night.
Just do it. Sometimes, I’m too tired to spend the extra few minutes to clean up. But as I mentioned during my sleep point (#2), your skin is repairing itself and you want to give your skin full opportunity to take advantage of this repairing cycle. If you get too tired, the least you could do it splash your face with warm-hot water and cotton ball with toner and wipe off makeup debris.
- Exfoliate 3x a week.
Exfoliation removes the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface. It’s tempting to do it every night but every skin care professional I have ever spoken to suggests, 3x a week.
